Studio - Painting and Decking Completed
We're moving along now. The studio is coming along well and we've got the walls painted, final inspection passed nad we've got the decking complete. Thanks to Mike, one of my old neighbors up in Orlando, FL, who came down to Kissimmee and helped us build this deck in one day. Mike, Damian and myself rocked this out and we're now ready for flooring of our choice. We're probably going to go with a Laminate flooring for the simple fact that its going to be a drum studio and we're going to have claws coming out of our stands and kick pedals. I'd hate to put a real hardwood floor and have to repair it later should we decide to move out of here.
We did a simple floating 2x4 pressure treated wood frame. We leveled the outter frame and nailed it to the wall level. We then nailed the stringers (2 x 4's) in place 16 inches on center and leveled / shimmed it. After that, we put some Pink Panther insulation in just for acoustical purposes. We wanted to muffle some of the sound between the decking and the concrete slab, so we figured this would work (and it did).
Here's some pics. More are in the gallery.
