I absolutely loved our "The City" track and I sat down and was contemplating doing a song about my previous job as a Flight Engineer on C-130 aircraft in the U.S. Air Force.  I've been wanting to find a way to describe what that job was like. This song is about 4 minutes of what we went through every day, execpt somedays we did it for 6 - 18 hours straight. Imagine this world inside your head moving 10 times this fast and you can't go anywhere to get away from it! What a great job. I hope this track depicts what we went through.  I started out after Billy left and laid down drums with the orignal version, then I started in with a headset microphone and started coming up with my voice overs, I started playing through a mission that we would go on and then started phrasing stuff out. I blended what it was like to be in that world with a musical structure and if you listen closely, there's two missions going on at the same time. One is for the song structure as I'm ... more...

I have a whole new respect for Pilots as yourself having to deal with chaos in the head phones and still keep focus on the mission. In this case the mission is keeping in lock with the bass line and the click.

Here's a track we just cut on my back porch, then took into the studio and Billy, Cash and myself laid down some percussion parts. This started out as inspiration from Rammstein's Engel. Tracy played this for me this morning and the pulse hit me just right. We had a studio day planned with nothing really set in stone, so when Billy and Cash came over, we sat down and listened to Engel. Then we listened to Hey Man Nice Shot by Filter, and Cash already had ideas flowing. We kept it in 4/4 at 96 BPM the same tempo as Engel. I forced Billy to lay down a structure, and then Cash laid down the bass, the guitars, and a synth or two. Billy recorded the shakers in the sound booth with Cash using real shakers. I came in afterwards and put down the Tibetan Singing bowls, bells and gongs with my iPhone and then I played my hand against a huge ass LP Cowbell and added some percussion parts.  Shortly after, Cash added a few more touches with a loop or two and mixed it down.  Billy came in and laid down t... more...

This one is stuck on repeat for some reason... going on the 20th.. I mean 21st time looping. Man I love it! Way to bury the click billy, I forgot it was on when mixing because you locked in so tight! Cash, outstanding... I don't know what else I could say. Great afternoon!

I think the drums kinda sound like they are peaking a bit though, maybe go back and check out the drum mix :] but all the playing is great and 100% tight to me!

There are no words for how awesome this track is! I really enjoyed working with you guys! Having the collaboration and chemistry in the studio was essential to producing this track. The drums sound great! I think the snare could stand to be brought up in the mix just a little but overall I had an amazing time working with the both of you.

I will remix Billy's version. I listened to it in a few different places and I hear what needs to be changed.

This is Joe Burke's song, Long Walk Home. We've been playing with this song for a few weeks now and we sat down and tracked it this week. First started out with Joe / rotcav coming out on Monday to track his parts on the keyboard live with me on the drums. I then played Joe's keyboard tracks and laid a new drum track with Cash on the bass. Cash also laid down the lead guitar after that. I retracked my drums this Saturday and mastered the audio. This is a really cool half time feel that I'm playing against the metronome at 111 bpm. Thunderstorms were recorded off my back porch last week as well with my PCM-D50 recorder. Enjoy the track, it's a Long Walk Home. We all took it at our own pace and helped the struggle there during this track.

Here's a multi-track from Cash (keys, bass, guitar, voicbox) and myself (drums). We started with Drums and Keys, then added bass, guitar and voicebox.  "Get to your computer and go to Drummer Conneciton DOT COM".... Enjoy!  Note: I remixed this on 02/19/2009. The original version was straight from the mixer. the new version has more guitars as I separated Cash's takes. I cleaned up the drums quite a bit and used some track automation in Logice to bring the levels a little more even. Enjoy!

That tom pattern towards the end was pretty nutts! The whole thing was awesome, I'm glad we got them all tweaked out.

I've been geekin' it and tested the quality in about 12 pairs of speakers and I'm now camped out on my macbook with some Sony headphones. The audio rocks my skull at full volume and sounds clear to me.

Overall I'm pretty happy with this but the gates need a little more tweaking. We'll get it!

This is an audio clip from our Jam Session last week. Cash and I were talking before we started playing and I requested that we play something for everyone who's hurting out there right now with all that's going on. Yeah... sob sob..  The keyboard introduction is long, but if you listen, it's worth the time. Cash really tells a story. You can hear me thumping around tightening stuff up on my kit while he was playing. Ironically I was passively listening to what he was playing and I jumped in somewhere around [tc=5:00]. I finally had a chance to process this after we jammed and I tell you... wow. Cash really knows how to set the mood.

I really dig the mellow mood of this. I think this is the type of thing I'd like to learn to accompany on the bass. Maybe just a LITTLE bit more upbeat.
